A great professor and mentor Dr. Alejandro Kleinman is retiring from Loma Linda University’s Graduate Program in Implant Dentistry. Prof. Kleinman was instrumental in Dr. Noumbissi’s decision and selection to attend the program in 1999. In his honor the Robert A. James Society of Implant Dentistry is hosting an Implant Dentistry Alumni Symposium that will take place at Loma Linda University in the Randall’s Visitor Center on Monday June 9, 2014. Dr Noumbissi was invited and accepted to speak at this event along with other graduates of the program.
Functional, safe and aesthetic replacement of dentition has long been a challenge for dentistry. The lectures objectives were to provide the delegates and specialty residents with a high-level and comprehensive overview of the fastest growing addition to dental implantology; Metal free zirconia dental implants. Zirconia has been, and continues to be, widely used in restorative dentistry.
Today, manufacturing processes have been developed making high performing, quality all-zirconia implants for use in single unit, multi-unit and edentulous treatment plans. Zirconia is an inert bioceramic which has excellent biomechanical properties, does not conduct heat, retains no plaque and unlike titanium it is not susceptible to galvanic activity or corrosion in the oral environment.
Dr. Noumbissi was invited to be a keynote speaker at the 2nd International Conference and Exhibition on Dental and Oral health. This conference was held at the Crown Plaza Hotel Dubai in the United Arab Emirates from April 21 to 23, 2014. The theme of Dr. Noumbissi presentation was “All Ceramic Implantology with Zirconia Dental Implants: Rationale and Clinical outcomes”. On April 22, 2014 Dr. Noumbissi introduced ceramic implants to the Dubai School of Dental Medicine. In attendance were thirty residents and faculty from the oral surgery, periodontics, prosthodontics and endodontics specialty departments. The topic presented was “Zirconia Dental Implants: A Viable Alternative to Titanium Implants”
Dr. Noumbissi Organizes and Speaks at the World’s First Metal-Free Implantology Congress- Miami 2014
Under the leadership of its founding president Dr. Sammy Noumbissi, the International Academy of Ceramic Implantology (IAOCI) held its winter congress in Miami, on January 24 and 25, 2014 . In attendance were delegates from 11 states in the USA, the UK, France, Japan, Germany, Spain, Jamaica, Canada, and Switzerland!
Our world-renowned and expert speakers included Drs. Elizabeth Valentine-Thon, Dan Hagi, Josep Oliva, Sammy Noumbissi, Andrea Mombelli, Stephen Evans, Ralf Luettmann, Judson Wall, Noriaki Honma, Mr. Taylor Hunter from Aurum Dental Laboratories and Mr. Jared Young from Big Diastema Marketing.
We want to thank Z-Systems USA, Ceraroot Implants, Aurum Dental Laboratories, Albensi Dental Laboratories, Zeramex Ceramic Implants, Lasers for Dentistry, Healthier Smiles Dental and TAV ceramic Implants for their gracious support.
This year featured one of the best curricula ever for a dental implant event and the information shared was bar-none. If you weren’t able to make it this year, you won’t want to miss next year’s event, we are now beginning to go through the 48 hours of video footage we recorded and will soon be making those DVDs available to anyone interested in learning more about Zirconia Dental implants.
Next Year’s congress will be held again in Florida during the last week of February 2015, more details to come soon!!
Thank you to Ms. Ronetta Jones who worked tirelessly to make this happen and everyone who helped make it possible!

Zirconia Implants a Viable Alternative Seminar Lead by Drs. Bobbie Beckman and Sammy Noumbissi November 7 & 8, 2013
On Thursday and Friday November 7 and 8, 2013 we successfully completed our two-day fall session zirconia implantology training and certification course. In attendance were six doctors from Maryland, Washington DC and Europe (Italy). Was also in attendance Mr. Don Albensi, CEO of Albensi Dental Laboratories in Pittsburg Pennsylvania. This course on the zirconia ceramic dental implants was focused on zirconia as an implant material, its properties and uses in metal free implantology. Emphasis was also placed on case selection, advanced clinical and radiographic diagnostics, treatment planning and guided surgery. On Thursday Dr. Bobbie Beckman gave an amazing presentation on 15 years experience with ceramic implants across four different zirconia implant systems.
Congratulations to Drs. Rupert Clark, William Lanza, William Milton, Gary Lucombe, Marlene Saint-Phard, Marylin Legasperi and Terri Victor who attended this course. Very Much thanks to Z-Systems USA and Albensi Dental Laboratories for their support.

Dr. Noumbissi Speaks at the International Academy of Ceramic Implantology Symposium (IAOCI) in Las Vegas September 5, 2013.
On September 5, 2013, Dr. Noumbissi moderated and spoke at the International Academy of Ceramic Implantology symposium in Las Vegas. There he presented his preliminary findings of a two-year study he has been conducting on safe and predictable assessment of ceramic implant integration prior to restoration. The protocol involved the use of the Periotest instrument on one hundred ceramic implants. The preliminary findings showed 97% success rate and confirmed that success rates of zirconia ceramic implants are comparable to that of titanium minus the risk of corrosion, metal sensitivity, plaque and bacterial accumulation. Dr. Noumbissi findings suggest in most cases zirconia implants can be restored (crowns and bridges) at approximately four to five months after implant insertion in the jaw bone. This study is currently submitted for review by an international and peer reviewed journal of clinical dental implantology.
For the second year in a row, Dr. Noumbissi and Miles of Smiles Implant Dentistry’s staff attended and participated in the 9th annual Green Festival at the Washington DC convention center. Over 300 visitors stopped by our booth, we shared information and educated them on the health benefits of replacing missing teeth and improving their smiles with metal free dental implants. Metal free dental implants are made of zirconia which is a bioceramic that’s inert. In other words unlike titanium implants which are metal, they do not corrode, conduct electricity nor attract electromagnetic fields to one’s head.
Thanks for the support and to all who stopped by our booth.
Guided bone regeneration is the process by which bone is regenerated in a deficient prospective implant area and in some cases around a tooth that has lost some bone.
This method of bone augmentation requires not only the bone material (graft) but also a barrier membrane to exclude gum tissue from invading the slower forming bone. Therefore the bone materials used in this case must be carefully selected because they need to be conductive at the very least. In other words the graft material must allow and facilitate your own bone forming cells to migrate into the graft and allow or trigger (inductive) your bone forming cells to use it as a scaffold for new bone formation and deposition.
